Our Mission in Denver & Beyond
NEXO was founded to bridge the gap for micro-businesses and entrepreneurs who need professional tax services Colorado and bookkeeping services without the high cost of a full-time staff. We believe that every business, no matter how small, deserves a solid foundation.
The gap is a real one. Below a certain size, a business is too small to justify a controller and too complex to run on a spreadsheet and good intentions — so the books wait until March, the sales tax registration nobody knew about surfaces as a notice, and the entity that was formed in a hurry two years ago turns out to have missed its Periodic Report. None of that is a failure of effort. It is what happens when nobody whose job it is to watch the calendar is watching it.
Our credentials, stated plainly
NEXO operates as a paid tax return preparer registered with the IRS under a Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN), which is the credential required to prepare and sign federal returns for compensation. We are not a CPA firm, and we do not hold Enrolled Agent or Certifying Acceptance Agent status. That distinction is worth knowing before you choose a preparer: it means we prepare and file your returns and handle the bookkeeping behind them, but representing you in an IRS audit or examination, and legal questions about entity structure or liability, belong with a CPA, an Enrolled Agent, or an attorney. When a question crosses that line, we tell you rather than answering it anyway.
Who we are built for
This practice is built for one- to ten-person operations across the Denver metro area — contractors and tradespeople paid on 1099s, restaurant and retail owners, cleaning and landscaping companies, rideshare and delivery drivers, and first-time LLC owners who have not yet filed a business return. Many of them run their business in Spanish, which is why every consultation, document, and portal message exists in both languages rather than in English with translation bolted on afterward.
Where we work from
Our office is in Greenwood Village, Colorado, at the south end of the Denver metro area, and most of our in-person clients come from Greenwood Village, Centennial, Aurora, Littleton, Englewood, Lakewood, and Denver proper. Being physically here is the reason the Colorado-specific work is routine for us rather than research: home-rule city sales tax, Secretary of State Periodic Reports, and Colorado Department of Revenue notices are the same handful of situations we see every week. Clients elsewhere in the United States work with us entirely remotely through video consultations and the secure document portal, with no difference in what the engagement covers.
